Anthony Lister is fed up with the Australian media. Next Friday, July 17th, he will be taking matters into his own hands with a one night exhibition, No Win Sitch, addressing the media’s affect on community. This show is so top secret that the location hasn’t even been announced yet. However, check out this short video from Anthony showing what we can expect from the artist:

A Note from Anthony Lister

Hi White Walls,

I am working in Sydney at the moment for a show coming up on July 17th. Here is some info about the show and some flicks of my studio.

NO WIN SITCH is an independently funded exhibition project by artist Anthony Lister. The idea behind this exhibition is to showcase his newest works based on the theme of media saturation within Australian culture and the effects it has on the community. Far from the traditional gallery setting – this installation challenges stereotypes in an exciting and new way. The show is open to the public for ONE NIGHT ONLY and will take place on July 17th – Kings Cross, 6 – 9. Visit Anthony’s blog for location details.

cool,
Anthony

Anthony Lister Gets Slammed

anthony-lister-slamxhype-interview-1

Did we mention that SLAMXHYPE’s new artist interview series rocks our socks off? After catching a few words from Joshua Petker, SLAMXHYPE’s latest endeavor involves an Australian artist whose spray can has people talking. The creative, Anthony Lister, has much to say about carnies, Michael Jackson, and his biggest breakthrough:

“That all depends on your definition of breakthrough. The first breakthrough was getting out of my mother’s womb. The first education type breakthrough was probably landing a mentorship in New York when I was 22. The first professional type breakthrough was probably when I started painting super heroes in a big way in like 2006.” -Anthony Lister, SLAMXHYPE Interview

Anthony Lister Slurpin Spaghetti

Anthony Lister really loves YouTube, judging by the image above and the video below. His current show at Italy’s K Gallery, “The Pain of Feeling,” runs through April and we hear that Anthony is taking full advantage of his time in the boot country. This clip shows an indoor wall piece going down:

Big Ben Street Art Tours

One can easily find the above image thanks to Google and the keywords, “Lister” and “Sickboy.” But once perusing the crowded streets of London on foot, would this wall piece be so easily found? To bridge that gap, a young chap named JR has taken it upon himself to guide eager street art lovers throughout East London. His tours are updated as often as the streets dictate, often including works by Anthony Lister, Sickboy, Conor Harrington, Barry McGee and more. We are diggin his philosophy:

“Any artist willing to give away their work for free and expose more people to art has a certain ‘x-factor’ that comes across in their artwork. Urban artists are painting for the love of it, and they are painting to give the public a chance to experience art without having to pay to wander confused around a museum.” -read more at ohh.com
