Going Beyond “HOPE”

Paper Magazine just commissioned 15 of its “personal favorite fearless creative communicators” to create an ad-like “rebranding of America.” Among participating artists are Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Chris Johanson, Jonathan Horowitz, and The Bruce High Quality Foundation. Shepard has already done his fair share of rebranding America, but he isn’t stopping with election posters. He expands:

Green technology is the only way that the U.S. can rebrand and re-invent itself in a way that both tree-hugging progressives and right-leaning economic imperialists can agree. The idea that ethics and capitalism do not have to be mutually exclusive is very appealing to me and needs to be the country’s goal if the United States wants to be respected. -Shepard Fairey
