Scroll down to see the large scale installations that Mike Shine and AJ Fosik have been working on while we hang this three day exhibition.

Even in the tightest of quarters, Mike Shine has managed to construct his signature “Art Shack” with the help of his sons and friends. The structure is solidly in place, but we all know that’s only half the battle. We anticipate long hours of painting the walls, inside and out, from Mr. Shine before the fair opens tomorrow.

Mike Shine isn’t the only artist putting his best foot forward this December. Just outside of Booth 50 near the fair entrance, AJ Fosik has installed one of his most intricate works to date. The brightly colored, three snouted creature is one of his strongest pieces of the year, if you ask us.

We are also happy to have Morgan Slade, Casey Gray, Aaron Nagel, Ramblin Worker, and Jesse Hazelip in Miami with us. We appreciate their efforts to be here, showing devotion to their craft and support of the gallery. Stay tuned for updates and we hope to see you in Miami this week!

AJ Fosik Gets Arrested

We were excited to welcome Ken Harman to The Shooting Gallery last Saturday, when he came to preview Greg Gossel and AJ Fosik‘s new shows. He got some great pictures of the guys and their artwork, and we think that getting signed showcards for Arrested Motion readers was a fantastic idea.

Check out the preview at Arrested Motion.

Thinking back on Saturday’s opening reception for AJ Fosik‘s “There’s Aliens in Our Midst,” one of our own staff says this:

“In my opinion, it was the best use of space I have ever seen at The Shooting Gallery and White Walls. The energy from both artists translates well in each gallery but they also compliment each other. There was a steady flow of collectors and genuinely interested people. It was a successful night, one of the best!” -Jillian Mackintosh, Publicist

Alex and AJ Talk Shop

Alex Lukas got a hold of AJ Fosik in Philly to explore the themes of his upcoming show, “There’s Aliens in Our Midst” opening this Saturday:

I do endorse the idea of traveling and moving as much as possible, being attached to nowhere and everywhere simultaneously . . . I used to just have one saw and an assortment of hand tools that I would lug around with me. Also, I was also dong more paintings, so my set up was very primitive, nothing I couldn’t put in the back of my truck. In the last couple of years my shop has really grown along with my work and it seems like every new tool I acquire opens up new possibilities to me so I really can’t imagine downsizing at this point. I don’t think I’m done moving either, but with the current manifestation of wood shop/ studio I don’t think paying off friends with beer is a viable moving option anymore. -AJ Fosik
