A warm thank you to everyone who came out for last Saturday’s opening reception! Rich Jacobs and Albert Reyes deserved the recognition for all their hard work, and we were happy to have them in the gallery to celebrate with friends. Take a look at some pictures from the opening reception and be sure to stop by White Walls Gallery before October 3rd to see this one of a kind show.

Albert Reyes just arrived in San Francisco to prepare The Future Is So Bright, opening this Saturday at White Walls. Our unique September artist didn’t arrive empty handed. He entered the gallery carrying a vintage suitcase filled to the brim with original drawings on book covers, all rendered in graphite or ink. He also delivered a bag full of prints on book covers along with a collection of framed prints, with a grand finale of 12 large scale pieces on wood.
We decided to share a few detail shots from Reyes’ plethora of new works, and we can’t wait to see the exhibition come to life on our walls. To see collaborative works by Albert Reyes, Matt Furie, and Aiyana Udesen currently on display, check out The Future Colors of America at Giant Robot SF.
Stay tuned for more teasers and be sure to attend Albert’s opening reception of The Future Is So Bright on September 12th.

New Works by Albert Reyes
Opening Reception: September 12th, 2009 from 7pm till 11pm.
Show runs through: October 3rd, 2009 and is open to the public.
White Walls is proud to present a new body of work by Albert Reyes this September. Reyes questions culture, race and the idea of self through autobiographical illustrations. Please join us for the opening reception on September 12th, 2009 from 7pm till 11pm.
Albert Reyes’ new body of work reflects a unique hybrid of contemporary pop culture and classical art theory. His graphite pencil and ballpoint pen illustrations are drawn on the inside of book covers offering cohesiveness to the diverse imagery. He incorporates everything from pop icons and politicians to the girl next door. Reyes draws realistic yet surreal portraits with a bit of street credibility, often referencing jailhouse art, graffiti and Los Angeles Latino culture. Each piece is composed with diverse measures of contemplation and is often accompanied with poetic words and emotion. Continue reading

Who doesn’t like dogs? Dogs and art can make a great exhibition; or so we hear from Giant Robot. GR2 in Los Angeles currently hosts “Free to a Good Home 2: Dogs!” featuring canine-themed artwork from Albert Reyes, Jay Howell, Apak!, and many more. We hope that the May 9th opening succeeded in finding a few good homes, as the Los Angeles Animal Services showed up with eager adoptable pups.
